Friendly reminder, garbage pickup is tomorrow. Please set out your cans no later than 6am!

Thanks to everyone who attended the VOHC Community Night on Wednesday June 11, 2025.
The Board is grateful for the thoughtful questions and feedback and truly enjoyed the opportunity to interact with residents.

The alley work has been completed, and they are again usable. There will be some loose gravel for a few weeks until the contractor returns to sweep. Please use caution.
Thanks to Roger and Brad for the work they did to manage this project, help protect residents property and respond to the inevitable issues that arise with this type of work.
Thanks for your patience and understanding during this transition.

Good morning, residents! We have an approved peddler permit for Romet Trommel. He is authorized to solicit for the next week, but is planning on being out today and tomorrow, June 11 and 12, 2025. He does have a printed permit from the Village office.

Residents –
The contractors will be completing the final grading of the alleys tomorrow Wednesday June 11, 2025.
The alleys will then be primed preparing them for the final step of chip sealing.
Once primed it’s important the alleys are not used for any reason due to the potential damage to the roadbed and possibly vehicles, shoes, concrete, etc.
Priming will begin at approximately 1:00PM Wednesday and need to sit overnight.
Barricades will be placed near the alleys and flyers will be given to homes near the alleys.
Thursday morning the chip sealing process will begin and hopefully all the alleys will be completed and back open the same day.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience but are excited about improving these roads for the first time in a long time.

Friendly reminder, garbage and recycling pickup is tomorrow. Please set out your cans no later than 6am!

Good afternoon Residents! We wanted you to be aware that there will be a Community Night held at the Hanna City Sportsman's Club on Wednesday June 11, from 6-8pm. Alley Construction Update
Work on the alleys in town continues today and into early next week. Please avoid these areas if/as possible.
The updated schedule calls for the workers to be grading and leveling today and into next week.
The priming process is now tentatively scheduled for the evening of Tuesday June 10. If that changes, we will let you know.
Once the alleys are primed, they should not be driven on. Barricades will be put up during these times.
The morning after the priming process the alleys will be oiled and chipped.
We apologize for the short-term inconvenience but are looking forward to having the areas resurfaced.

Residents – The alley reconstruction work will begin today. (See Map)
This is a major effort to completely rebuild all the alleys in town and will cause some disruption.
Process Steps (Target times are subject to change due to weather.)
Reenforce the manholes – Scheduled to begin today.
Pulverize & grade the existing material. This involves large equipment, and the alleys will not be useable during and after until priming and resurfacing is complete. – Scheduled to begin tomorrow. Barricades will be put up.
Priming – A chemical is applied to the material to prime it for the chip sealing process. The target will be to do this in the evening so it can sit overnight. We are targeting Sunday night, weather permitting. We will communicate specifically when this going to happen because its vital for the protection of the road and vehicles.
Chip Sealing – Finishing the roads like we have the others in town – Hope to begin next Monday.
We will continue to communicate via Facebook and our App if/as things change.
The priming process will also be communicated through door flyers.
We apologize for the short-term inconvenience but are looking forward to getting these improvements complete.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Press release from Peoria County Sheriff's Office regarding weekend incident in Hanna City.
26th, 2026
Indecent Solicitation of Child Arrest (25-2995)
(Hanna City, IL) - On Saturday, May 24th, 2025, the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the area of Lakeshore Dr in Hanna City of a male running through yards dressed in camouflage clothing yelling that someone was trying to kill him. Deputies checked the area and found a back pack near a lake. There was an Oklahoma ID found in the bag that deputies found to be the male (Rusty Barrilleaux, 39 years old) that was running through the yards earlier. It was later learned by deputies that Barrilleaux was running because he was communicating in a sexual manner with what he believed was a juvenile on a online dating app. Through the investigation we found Barrilleaux thought he was meeting with a juvenile and taking that juvenile camping but when he showed up to meet the juvenile, it was an adult that confronted him and the male fled on foot.
On May 25th at approximately 8:00 a.m. our K-9 deputy was in the Hanna City area following up on a tip received and found smoke coming from the woods near Murphy Rd and Carol Ct. The K-9 started a track and found Barilleaux in the woods a short time later and was arrested. Deputies found a campsite where Barilleaux had set up. A laptop was located and digital evidence was given to detectives showing conversations between Barrilleaux and what he believed to be was a juvenile. Barrilleaux admitted to detectives of trying to meet a minor and was booked into the Peoria County Jail for Indecent Solicitation of Minor, Grooming, and Distribution of Harmful Material to a Minor.
This is a good reminder to monitor your children’s activity online and which apps they are using. There are a large amount of online predators across the country trying to make contact with our children and some will go to great lengths to meet with them in person.

Attention Residents:

The work to complete that program will begin this Wednesday May 21,2025 and last for a couple of weeks.
The first step will be to mill each of the alleys and then resurface them. Attached is a map of the alley’s that will be reworked.
Additionally, the final four roads from the annual program will be seal coated. They include Phil Gould, Jolyn, Llewellyn and Balagna.
Please keep an eye out for the workers and avoid the areas where work is being done to the extent possible.

Just a friendly reminder that Water/Sewer/Garbage bills are due tomorrow!
